The Mícheál Ó Domhnall Branch of Oregon would like to extend an invitation to you and yours to view ‘The Bothy Boy’, a documentary that details the life of our branch’s namesake– Mícheál Ó Domhnaill.  Mícheál was a gifted guitarist, singer, composer, arranger, producer, and member of one of the most influential Irish traditional music groups of all time–The Bothy Band. He joined our Portland community in the early 1980s and became a major contributor to our burgeoning Irish music scene. This documentary highlights his musical career, which spanned more that 50 years, and includes insight into his childhood as well as time spent with Kevin Burke (another Portland based Irish music legend), which culminated in the albums Promenade and Portland. His collaboration with two other projects–Relativity and Nightnoise–broke new ground in traditional music and made impacts on the music still felt today. The Bothy Boy is a lasting hallmark to the contributions of a man who inspired the founding of our branch– Mícheál Seosamh Ó Domhnaill 1951-2006). Go maire a ainm go síoraí!
