Welcome to Gaeilge Northwest. We are a community of Irish language educators, learners, organizers, and Irish cultural enthusiasts situated in the greater Portland, Oregon area. Upcoming Irish Language Classes at Portland Community College (NEW CLASSES FALL 2024):

Irish Gaelic 1 : 6:00-8:00 pm Wednesdays January 10-March 20, 2024.

An introductory course to Irish language for folks with little or no Irish language skill. This course aims to provide students with a foundational understanding of the language in preparation for the Language Nest model utilized in the Irish Gaelic Immersion course (below).

Irish Gaelic Immersion : 10:30-1:00 pm Every other Saturday January 13-March 23, 2024.

This course utilizes a Language Nest model, which is an important learning format that precipitates language community cohesion among learners with different skill levels. This format also shifts the focus from teacher-led, standard board instruction to skill sharing and self-directed learning.
