Reverie Road - Day of Irish Music Workshops
Saturday, November 1, 2025, Portland, Oregon, 1-5 p.m.
Waverly UCC, 3300 SE Woodward Street, Portland, Oregon
Reverie Road is a Celtic powerhouse ensemble, with Solas members Winifred Horan and John Williams and former Gaelic Storm fiddler Katie Grennan and Steinway Artist Jazz and Raga pianist Utsav Lal. Together, these four exceptional musicians are some of today’s most accomplished traditional and virtuosic folk artists.
While in Portland on their concert tour*, Reverie Road will provide expert instruction in traditional Irish music on various instruments for members of Mícheál Ó Domhnaill Branch of Comhaltas Ceoltóirí Éireann and their friends.
These workshops are designed to improve student’s understanding of how to properly play traditional Irish music. Teachers will share a tune or two and demonstrate how to ornament and vary the tune and make it sound more Irish. Time permitting they will review some common session tunes and how to improve expression of those tunes.
